 2022 October!

Today was an interesting day.  It was cooler.  It felt like Fall.  I made bread.  I think I was distracted because I forgot to let it rise.  How is that possible?   It is very compact.

The Athen Elders came to bring me a sim card for my phone.  They are so nice.  It is a threesome.  They are training a new Elder from Sweden originally from Chile.  He speaks Swedish of course, Greek, French and English.  Very good English.  One Elder is part Greek ( his mother) and lives in Alpine, Utah.  He speaks Greek, French, and English.  The other Elder is from Switzerland and speaks German, French, English and Greek.  You just want to pinch their cheeks they are so awesome.  I asked if they could give us a message and the Elder pulled off his tie and asked if I could tie it in a knot after picking it up without letting go.  Of course Kim could do it.  Then he talked about not letting go of the gospel and how we can do that.  I gave them lots of grapes that were so sweet and yummy as a reward.  We got them at the market for so cheap.

Today we went downtown for an appointment with an Non Government Organization.  These are the groups that we have been meeting with most days and learning about how they are helping venerable populations.  We are getting more familiar with the metro and the streets of downtown Athens.

Closed Eyes of the Director...whaaaa!
I asked if I could post her picture that I took.  I don't think she would be excited if she saw that her eyes were closed on my blog.  I don't think I will give her the name of the blog.  However, I am posting because her hair was amazing.  You don't see hair like this very often.  She was lovely and spent much time explaining how her organization coordinates left over medication from pharmacies, hospitals and medical clinics with people in need.  It was very inspiring that someone would come up with an app that would organize and distribute medication to those in need. We have learned a lot about many that want to help those displaced and without means to provide.

We saw that there was a market going on and so we wandered down to see what there was.  It went on and on.  These oranges were not pretty at all but they are the sweetest oranges I have had in a very long time and they were so cheap.  Avocadoes on the other are $4 for one.  I mourn as I walk past them.  I refuse to pay that.

This apartment building is abandoned.  I thought it would really be cool for Halloween.  We live in a beautiful area of Athens.  It is not like downtown where there is little vegetation.
We walk around in the evenings when we have time going to places we haven't been to.  Hurray for GPS and Map My Run.  They get us back home on the rare occasion that Kim gets turned around.  I would still be wandering if it was up to me to find the way.
